The Food Processing Center (CPDA) at Resort Costao do Santinho has received the Municipal Inspection Service Seal No. 074 for its fish receiving and processing unit. The certification ceremony was held late Wednesday morning (5th) with the presence of Florianópolis Mayor, Topázio Silveira Neto, businessman Fernando Marcondes de Mattos, founder of Costao, as well as co-presidents, Leonardo Freitas and Cleiton Tabalipa, and the Commercial and Marketing Director, Daniela Rocco.
The ceremony was also attended by the Secretary of Tourism, Sports and Culture, Zena Becker; the Executive Secretary of Economic Development, Science and Technology, Juliano Richter Pires; and the Deputy Secretary of Fishing, Mariculture and Agriculture, Laurentino Benedito Neves; along with inspection service supervisors and CPDA technical managers, Ari Cattani and Gabriela Auth. After the ceremony, everyone followed the CPDA processing line, duly protected by disposable caps and shoe covers, as required by health legislation.
Recently built, the CPDA complied with the Florianópolis Municipal Inspection Service (SIM-Fpolis) standards, enabling it to receive various species directly from fishermen to process and offer at the resort's restaurants. "We would like to thank the work done by the Florianópolis city hall, which has this vision of providing this moment. The certification was envisioned years ago by Dr. Fernando, and with it, we will invigorate the community and serve an even fresher product," declared co-president Leonardo Freitas.
Annually, Costao do Santinho accounts for a consumption of 330 tons of fish in the resort's restaurants, partnering with fishermen from various localities on the Island, such as Barra da Lagoa, Mozambique, Santinho, Ingleses, Lagoinha, among others. "Credit goes to the technical team of the departments, which has been working and overcoming barriers, providing a municipal inspection service with credibility. The certification, in addition to bringing higher quality to the consumer, greatly benefits our fishermen," stated Topázio.

Municipal Law No. 10,728, dated June 26, 2020, was created and regulated by the municipality of Florianópolis through Decree No. 24,444, of November 22, 2022, to allow, by complying with predefined sanitary rules, restaurants to obtain fish directly from artisanal fishermen and aquaculturists. The legislation aims to promote the consumption of regional fish, respect species seasonality, value artisanal fishermen, shorten the production chain ("from sea to table"), and ensure food safety, among other benefits that the rule fosters.
